Powhatan Pod

The Powhatan language was an Algonquain language that is now extinct.

The word Powhatan means "waterfall" in their own language.

The Powhatans were original residents of what is now Virginia, and were best known for their interaction with the Jamestown colony.

Lake Powhatan is located in the Bent Creek area of the Pisgah National Forest.
