Estes Student Council consists of a President (4th grader),
Vice President (3rd grader) and a Senator from each classroom (K-4th). The
members of the council are elected by the entire student body. For one week they get to campaign by hanging
up posters, reading to younger students, and walking the hallways introducing
themselves before school begins in the mornings. The Presidential and
Vice-Presidential Candidates also write and recite a 1 minute speech that airs
for the entire student body to further address their platforms. Each year our student council will be
responsible for 2 community and 2 school projects. We believe this process not
only teaches our students about the electoral process, but it also gives our
students a sense of ownership to our school. We are growing great leaders at Estes and the student council is an
excellent example.
