Welcome to My ESL Classroom

Kimberly Boss
ESL Teacher

Dear Students and Families,

Welcome to Estes and the 2015-16 school year!  My name is Ms. Boss.  I teach English to Speakers of Other Languages in grades K-4.  I work with another teacher named Mrs. Goodman.  The 2015-16 school year will be my 15th year of teaching elementary school!  Before coming to Estes, I taught 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades in Florida.  I have also taught 2nd grade in Malaysia, and ESL to students of all ages in Japan.

I have a bachelor's degree in International Business and a master's degree in Elementary Education.  I am certified to teach grades K-6 and ESL in grades K-12. I have been on our school's Leadership Team for the past few years.  Also, I helped Estes' parents start a Spanish Club.  I lead a different Spanish Club on our Early Release Days.

I love my job because I love working with students from around the world!  I like to help them improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.  We have a lot of fun together, learning new information, building up our vocabulary, listening to books, reading books, and writing our own books!  We practice speaking in long sentences and organizing our ideas.

What do you like to do for fun?  I like to travel!  Four summers ago I went to the country of Guatemala for one month to study Spanish.  I can speak a little more Spanish now, to add to my high school Spanish! When I graduated from college; a long time ago, I lived in Japan for three years.  I can still speak a little Japanese.

I also like to dance, hike, cook and eat!  I look forward to seeing all of my students from last year again in the Fall and to welcoming new faces.
