Estes Family Resource Center

Resource Center
The Estes Family Resource Center (EFRC), located beside the Estes bus lot, supports Estes families and addresses the needs of our student population by providing assistance through a food pantry, a clothing closet, parenting classes, holiday assistance and other programs and services.

The EFRC is a partnership between Estes staff and parents, local organizations, businesses and Children First/Communities In Schools of Buncombe County, which funds our Student Support Specialist, Electa Smith.

The role of the Student Support Specialist is to implement individualized interventions for students to address any issues they are facing around their attendance, behavior or coursework. The Student Support Specialist does this by working closely with parents, teachers and school staff to determine the root cause of those concerns, formulates a plan for each student and continually checks in with the student, their parents and their teacher to determine the effectiveness of the interventions that are put into place. Students struggling in any of these three areas can be referred by anyone to the Student Support Specialist.

For more information or to inquire about receiving services through the EFRC or the Student Support Specialist, please contact Electa Smith, at electaS@childrenfirstbc.org or by calling (828) 785-0518.
