Welcome to our website!

Wow! This is my 38th year of teaching! I've been a teacher at Estes for 27 years now.

A little about me.....I graduated with honors from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. My degrees are in Elementary Education K-6 and Deaf Education K-12. I taught deaf children in New Jersey and West Virginia before moving to Asheville. I have a German Shepherd named Mabel and 3 cats, Moxie, Riley, and Punkin. I am also a huge fan of horses! I'm a quilter, jewelry maker, avid reader, gardener, and "Technology Queen".

Because of my background in deaf education I teach my second graders sign language each year. We say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Estes Pledge, in sign language each morning, and we use signs for "restroom", "water", "lineup", "listen", etc...  My students become "sign language sponges"!

I look forward to working with your child this year as we prepare them to be leaders at home, school, and in the community.
