Ramsey, Megan (Student Support Specialist)

I'm excited to begin another year with the Estes family! I began my role as Student Support Specialist in the spring of 2016 and have enjoyed my time at Estes ever since. While an employee of Children First/Communities In Schools, I consider Estes home.

I'm here to focus on helping students and families succeed by partnering with families to provide resources and referrals in the community based on their individual needs. Please see below for a list of the services I provide.

Estes Family Resource Center (EFRC) is a free, confidential service provided in partnership with Estes Elementary School and Children First/Communities In School. The EFRC is available to all Estes students and families, and offers clothing, food boxes, and school supplies, as well as references & referrals to outside agencies. To receive any of these items or services please contact me or visit during our office hours*.
Reading Buddies is a program designed to pair students needing extra attention in reading with a caring adult. Buddies meet with their student once per week for about 1 hour to read with the student, help them work on critical skills for learning and build an irreplaceable bond.
School-Wide Initiatives are provided to all Estes students. These include the use of the Estes Family Resource Center, anti-bullying assembles, coat, blanket and school supply drives, among others.
Small Groups are offered to students once per quarter to help improve their social skills or to learn how to prevent bullying. We use the Second Step curriculum that the school counselors use during Guidance, so the lessons are consistent from classroom to small group. Triple P is a parenting intervention with the main goal of increasing the knowledge, skills, and confidence of parents and reducing the prevalence of mental health, emotional, and behavioral problems in children and adolescents. We do this by coming alongside parents to teach them strategies they can us to help them prevent and manage their child's behavior. To learn more visit www.triplep-parenting.com.
